Departure

Here we go, we left Belgium on July 10th, to Paris from where our plane will leave the next day, to Miami, our first stop.

We take the whole afternoon to walk across the streets of Paris, the City of Light, which is cloudy and rainy on this Monday. It is the first time that the girls visit Paris, although Lara was born there:Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysées are a must-do and it is fine as we’ll pass the night at our friends place, in a street crossing the most known avenue.

July 11th starts our 400 days tour and we woke up very early with the Army music band preparing for the July 14th Celebration day.

First day, first issue :

as we were checking-in at the automated desk, there was an issue with my passport; we could find the ESTA numbers matching my wife and daughters’ passport but not mine.

Strange, I am sure that I registered the whole family together, one night, (too?) late after work !

I found the mistake : I have made the ESTA registration but the passport number entered for this registration was wrong by one letter !

Too bad, we could only register 4 persons for our flight to Miami:I may not enter USA territory without this sesam…I will have to register again and get a new valid ESTA number .

It takes time, especially on a smartphone, to respond all the questions from US customs , the flight leaves in 60 minutes, time is flying as well and finally 30 minutes before gates close, I got my precious number and the American Airline employee let me pass…

What a relief when the girls saw me running to pass the security check : finally we’ll travel the 5 of us…only after in-depth security check of Lara’s backpack has been done, as she was the lucky winner of this security draw !

The flight itself was smooth and we landed in Miami a few minutes before schedule.
